Since 1989

The name TOMAGWA means "Tomball, Magnolia, & Waller," which roughly defined the original service area of our clinic. Our name is unique and holds great importance to underserved, uninsured families, who need health care and reside in southwest Montgomery, southeast Waller and northwest Harris Counties.

More than 30 years ago, TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries was founded from the concern of local residents who came together to address their communities need. A family practice emerged, reducing the stress and cost on local Emergency rooms. Initially TOMAGA operated out of the room of a church and then moved to a small 3,300 square foot practice in adjacent to HCA Houston at Tomball. Now TOMAGWA offers comprehensive medical services out of a 10,000 square foot facility on School Street.

Dr. Earl Martin and local pharmacist and owner of The Home Health Store in Tomball, Tom Gloyer, are considered founders who during that time offered care and services to the community. Later Judy Deyo, a local nurse at the time, was hired by Tom to be the Executive Director to help expand service capabilities of the ministry to meet the growing need.

Tomagwa HealthCare Ministries

TOMAGWA is a comprehensive family practice clinic that provides medical services regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, religious affiliation or the ability to pay. Last year, more than 750 dedicated professional and service oriented volunteers along with a small staff provided more than 250,000 family member visits, from babies to grandparents, who could not afford health care and were without health insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.

It is important to understand that more than 85 percent of the uninsured in our community live in a household where one or more family members work full-time. Our clinic provides the necessary medical assistance to those who might go without care; the repercussions of lack of medical access affect every single one of us - crowded ER's, rising insurance premiums, and most importantly neighbors and children in our community at great medical risk.

TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries provides care, offers hope and restores dignity.

"But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Corinthians 12:9-11
